Thankful Thursday: Focus on Giving Thanks

Thankful Thursday

There is something to be said for stepping back from it all to see the truth. A change of perspective sometimes will help a broken heart regain joy and a broken spirit revive. It is all about learning to be grateful for every single moment.

This is the season as we start getting ready to give thanks and join our family that we have to really surround ourselves, dig for and begin to focus on reasons to be filled with a genuine sense of thankfulness. I am learning how to change my focus so that I can achieve that level of personal fulfillment.

Family & Friends Make Me Thankful!

Find something to be grateful for! I don't even focus on people I just focus on following my spirit. I don't worry about whether or not people want things I just give from my heart. I don't worry about people saying thank you because I keep myself around grateful, fulfilled individuals. We all have a lot to learn but you have to focus on being around people who want what you want.

If you dream a huge dream there should be at least two people you can call that will say, "Wow friend your idea is awesome!" If you do not have that friend yet then keep searching til you find them. I think one of my greatest attitude developments for is the ability to just focus on spirit. If I feel lead to do it then your gratitude is a plus.

We are not supposed to become weary in well doing but it is easier to get burned out being good to people then it is anything else. The thing I try to always focus on is being grateful for the opportunity to give or to serve. It has become something that I love. So I encourage you to focus building an attitude of thankfulness  because every opportunity to give or to receive is a blessing.

Nude on Shoesday Tuesday

Nude on Shoesday Tuesday

This Tuesday was of course Shoesday Tuesday! I went with a basic that everyone should have in their closet and if you don't start looking for this incredible color. Neutral tones and nude tones are great in the realm of accessories!

From dresses to clutches and shoes in this amazing tone it is truly all about having amazing basics in your closet that really help you expand what you can wear because for instance if you have a nude clutch like in the outfit of the week below you could rock almost any bright color or bright pattern and keep it monochromatic which builds height, elegance and simplicity in any outfit.

Fashion Friday: Functional Style that is Really Functional

Fashion Friday: Functional Style

Functional fashion is such a hugely debatable topic because there are so many different versions. I will tell you that I am even working on my personal functional fashion game because it is all about rocking life like a runway but sometimes we just don't have any energy  so what then? My solution are these three rules to help you overcome your daily fashion woes:

1: Choose easy pieces that create shape and fit well! It is not about hiding it is all about enhancing along with devising a plan for your day to day that captures the beauty of your silhouette.
2. Shop often to save more. Now I know you are thinking say what? But yes keep an eye on your favorite websites, local stores and boutiques. Learn their sale cycles and choose great basics that will keep you looking fabulous.
3. Color pop rocks! Think monochromatic but add in some spice. Now you can do that with your pants, lipstick or even a clutch but whatever you do just go for it!

Here are some basics every closet should have:

Tutorial Thursday: 30 minute Farrah Fawcett

Hair Tutorial: 30 minutes to Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett is an absolute icon and I thought it would be awesome to salute her in this hair tutorial since this is how I wear my hair almost everyday.

What you will need: comb, bobby pins or pin curl clip (I prefer the pin curl clips, hair spray, and a 1 inch barrel curling iron

Hair Success Tips: Remember to take large sections and that you can also do your entire head if you have time. I have even slept on my pin curls before but I usually do my pin curls then do my makeup and you can either let your hair down then or let them down in the parking lot before work or your event.

Step 1: Comb out the front section of your hair and curl the hair in large sections

Step 2: After each curl get your pointer & index fingers close together and wrap the curl around then pin the curl in place by sliding a large banana pin by the base of your scalp to the curl cool.

Step 3: Repeat this process in the entire front portion on of your head and even as far back as the crown if you choose or desire more volume in the final style for your hair. Be sure t o use hair spray after the pinning process is complete to give you some staying power for the style. I prefer +CHI Hair Care Helmet Head or Freeze it for my style prep.

Step 4: I do my pins first and then get started on my makeup. Clearly here my makeup is already on but you want to give the curls 10- 60 minutes to cool. You can even keep them in while you are on the way to work or an event. Let the sections down one by one and comb through with your fingers in the direction of the curl.

Step 5: Style as desired! Of course I like my hair full so I always tease mine but you can do a softer version as well. I love for my bangs to lay below my brow line and be very swept away so I also make sure that as I am finishing the hair I spray a shine spray like +Farouk Systems Rapid Shine on the sections and a finishing spray that has a lighter hold in to place for a perfect finish.

4 Must Have Black Basics

4 Must Have Black Basics

Black is still the core and base of everything! Especially when you are working on building a better wardrobe it is so important to start with great basic black. It will give you a jumping off point for the rest of your wardrobe build.

Of course I am a big fan of black because it looks professional and I even have done several of my promo shoots in black for the same reason. Now you don't want to get addicted to black but you for sure want to start off or rebuild your wardrobe with some incredible pieces that will give you versatility.

I wanted to be be sure that I was not just preaching at you but also giving you a good idea of some great pieces to choose from which is why I chose 2 great bags one being the economical +CHARLES & KEITH small tote that will be awesome to add a little trendy spice as well as one of my favorites from +V73 United States the Shangai leather tote which gives you classic elegance at work or play.

For the shoes selection of course I always go to comfy boots because they look great with leggings, jeans and with lots of different outfit selections. Of course I went with +Vince Camuto because I have tons of Vince Camuto shoes and they are so comfortable. My other pick for the shoe was a classic black heel by +Heels.com that are totally affordable no matter your budget. A basic black heel will set off any outfit for sure!

I was walking down Park Avenue a couple of months ago and this pair of black heels totally caught my eye. This is a great example of how you can take a fabulous pattern garment and partner it will a simple black heel to totally set it off!

Beauty Tuesday / Liz Everett Style Blog: Sunlogics Makeup Wipes

Beauty Tuesday: SunLogics Makeup Wipes

So last time I was in Atlanta a friend of mine and fellow makeup artist introduced me to a few products that she sells with her +BeautiControl brand that she is a consultant with. Of course like many of you I thought ok I will try them but I have to say I am pretty picky about my makeup wipes and the SunLogics Makeup wipes she had me start using not only have become a permanent part of my beauty routine but they have also truly been a healing agent for me skin. The vitamin B and botanical extracts combined with a very durable cloth that allows you to get all of your face makeup off is number one in my book.

Check out my Beauty Tuesday Video Blog:

Hope you love the video blog! It is my first shot at it and I wanted a new way to share with you guys!

Motivation Monday

Motivation Monday

Everyday is a new opportunity to be inspired! I love Motivational Monday! It is so much fun to share what inspires me. Each morning on the Liz Everett Style Blog fan page I always do morning inspire and that is truly what gets my day started as well.

Here are 4 for my favorite quotes:

I say make sure that you stay inspired so that you can stay focused on your dreams! It can be tough when you are surrounded by logic to keep your dreams alive but I try my best to look past my circumstance and keep my eyes on the prize. I was created for greatness and so were you!

There is nothing your future that makes you a slave to your DNA unless you desire that. I always try to remind myself that my tomorrow is a result of my dreams not my yesterday.

Get back to your dreams. Stop waiting for the right time! It is useless to let life pass you by and not accomplish the amazing things you were designed for.

Here are 4 tips to keep you focused on your dreams:
1. Write your vision and make it plain!
2. Surround yourself with people who share your dreams or have dreams of their own. Whether you join a networking group or find a support group online take action.
3. Do one thing everyday toward your goal!
4. Pin articles and and a vision board on Pinterest.
